Question:

Should I join the Army or the Navy?

Okay, so I was scheduled to join the Army, but then I had a talk to a Navy bloke, and he made the navy sound so good. Now I am at a dilemma because I'm unsure of which one to join.

Any assistance in helping me decide which of the two to join would be greatly obliged, Thank-you

  1. The Navy will feed you better.

  2. army if you want more man to man combat experience

  3. You said "I would also probably lean more towards the combat side of things, regardless of which of the two services I decide to join."

    The only answer is Army.

  4. Army!!!!!!!!!!!! wins hands down - i was in the army and it was the most incredable thing you could ever imagine.

  5. You sound just like me.

I was tied between Army and Navy.

I have completed the whole aplication and head off to the army in october, but now i'm think what if navy was the way to go.

All three branches are great services, and like a recruiter told me, after your inital contract is up, you can always transfer to another service.

  6. my husband is a marine he said they lie to get you to join and every thing is different when your there if you are in the army you will have a shorter boot camp and be in iraq longer navy is the same Maine's go to boot camp longer and iraq for only 7 months verses 12 months in the army and Navy and no matter what you choose you will be sharing a lil room with a stranger and a bathroom you will never be able to be late for work and you will be responsible for every lil thing you do i hope you are serious about cuz it hard and you cant quit there are up sides like when you get out if you do you get $80,000 for collage and $1,000 is payed for  your housing so if you go to school they will pay your rent and if you go for longer then 2 years you can pass it on to your wife or kids if you have them

  7. Remember, that in the navy you have to spend lots of time in boats. I hate confined spaces, so I'd go army, but I dont know. Army would set you up better I think, all the stuff you learn.

But hey, I'm a thirteen year old kid. Dont listen to me. Do what your instinks tell you... When incoming fire is comeing in, duck.

  8. Obviously to me the only answer is Marine Corps... but I work in a joint service environment because of my job... the guys in the Navy are a lot of fun to hang with.

You get paid the same.. which is NOT MUCH... no matter what service.. if you want to make money in the future choose a job that teaches mad technical skills and use Uncle Sam to help you get a parallel degree... or stay in and put on rank...

I'm not going to make digs on the Army, I know a lot of proud soldiers, but I think you should really survey all of your options before finalizing a decision that will affect the rest of your life.

    Good Luck!

  9. If you like polishing a boat 365 days a year, go navy. If you want to test yourself physically and mentally, challenge every fiber in your body, join the army and go Ranger or Special Forces.

  10. The Navy hands down.

Why,  cause we will send you all over the world where the Army will just send you to the Sand Pits. You have a better chance of survival when getting shot at. You get to kill more people in one day and then go and have a warm shower and go to bed.  Three cooked meals a day by a cook, not out of a plastic bag or tin.  Email and Internet access 24/7 back to Aust wherever you are. Better uniforms. (Cams are so 90's) And the list goes on.

Maybe after 20 years in the Navy I am a bit biased , but after two Gulf Wars, 19 countries visited whilst getting paid, two full tech Trades, why bother with the other two services.

  11. Yes

  12. All the jobs pay the same.  It just boils down to which branch suites your lifestyle.  If you want to stare at an empty vast of water all day, then the Navy is definitely for you.  If you prefer to sit out in the woods all day, then maybe try the Army.

  13. Hey Jake. How's it going.

As far as the Army, and getting paid well, the only well paid part of it will be the bonus.

As far as the Navy goes, it depends what you go in as and that's how your bonus will be different. Plus SEALS or SWCC or Aircrew would be ideal for you or MA (Master at Arms).

If you want more detailed info on this as far as Navy goes, go to http://www.mynavyonline.com we will help. I'm KJC88 there.

As far as Army, they will only send you one place right now and it's the "Sand Pits" as someone else said before.

The Navy will give you the opportunity to go to different places and still love your job and do it.

As far as SEALS or SWCC or EOD....etc, etc. That's by far one of the toughest training you will get than regular Army (not including Rangers).

So go to the website for more help. Good luck, personally I'd choose Navy, I'd be paid the same as Army, I'd have a better education than Army, and if I ever want to just serve my years and get out, I'll have a good civilian job afterwards. As where with Army it might not be that way if you just go Infantry.
