Should I join the crew (rowing) club?

It's all very short notice. I'm slightly overweight and out of shape but recently inquired to my college's crew club, because it's a sport that I'm interested in. They're always open to new members, and there are no try outs. You can start at any level of experience or physical fitness. If I choose to do it, I need to meet them at five am tomorrow to run, and I haven't ran in forever. Should I do it? I'm pretty much just looking for encouragement.

  1. i really think you should because a lot of my friends do it at school and they like it, it is really good for you and you get a good workout. but the work is hard core and you probably will be sore for the first few weeks of doing it there is running involved as well.

  2. I am with you there, since I joined crew I have lost about fifteen pounds in four weeks, because our crew is hard core and meets at six am in the NW.  Not only do you meet awesome people, but crew kicks your but and you learn endurance like no other.  It isn't for the weak, but everyone can definitely do it.  Its only in your head where it tells you you can't.  You should totally try, even if you decide you can't do it competively you'll know what to expect for next year when you can join for real from the beginning.

  3. I started crew this year for my high school and it is one of the best decisions ever, you should definitly join I have made a ton of friends and we have so much fun, you will really feel like you are a part of something big, however it is a really big comitment make sure you can afford it.

  4. You should, crew is one of the best ways to get into shape and pretty fun to do. Sure the five am thing would suck but if its something that you want to do, suck it up and go out there.
