  1. Unless you plan on buying PS3 games later on then go with the PS#,if not ur better off saving 20 dollars with going with blue-ray player.

  2. ps3 all the way because its the cheapest blueray disc player in the market it has internet to and has great graphics  and only 399 i say ps3 is the wisest choice

  3. I know it's desirable for non-gamers to say "I just don't want a game system" in my living room.  The PS3 is way beyond just a gaming system.  I wouldn't blame anyone who uses PS3 just as a movie player and nothing else.  Fact is it can channel pretty much anything in your home and be THE entertainment hub for everything and not once have a game on it or in it.  And for whatever myth that it is any inconvenience to watch a movie on it due to controls is wrong.  If you pop in the disc in it automatically plays.  There is a remote for it and it is peanuts compared to what you're throwing down on Blu ray and HDTV.  And I suspect before too long Logitech will make a Harmony remote incorporating the PS3.

Why not get the multifunction of it all.  Internet available if you feel so inclined to look up the world wide web from your sofa. Stream music, pictures, movie files straight from your computer via free online software from TVersity.com.  Store music, pictures, movies onto its hard drive.  Plug in with USB flash drives music, pictures, movies, or set an external hard drive next to it for more storage.

You know all those digital picture frames that are becoming popular.  Consider the PS3 to include that in the biggest frame possible.  It makes great slideshows with music in the background.  It is quite a good tool for showing guests photos.  We've used it alot for that.

Bottom line.  Until quality dedicated Blu-Ray players come down to the price of good name brand DVD players, they are not worth near what a PS3 can do for improving the quality of life in your household.  It's an unbeatable product on the market right now, more future proof than anything as well.

P.S. If you're arguing it's too bulky, it's really not sitting under the HDTV.

  4. all good answers but the deal maker was that with a wired,or in my case a wireless internet connection, i can listen to thousands of songs, look a thousands of pictures  and video in my computers windows media player library.  with a connection to a quality sound system and tv you have the ultimate home theater. This is the best answer!

  5. I'd highly recommend purchasing a PS3. If you choose this route, you can purchase a remote for it for 29 dollars, and use it as a fully functional Blu-Ray Player. If you want to play games, you can use it for games. It's the most versatile option. I realize that the initial investment is larger than the cost of the Blu-Ray player, but if you buy the blu-ray player by itself, and then want a ps3 later, you'll pay much more. In the end, it's up to you, but I'd recommend the PS3. I love mine!.

  6. Go with thePS3.  Blu- ray players for the most part are BUGGY. I was shopping for one a while back and after reading user reviews on amazon etc.. I stayed away untill they figure everything out. They constantly need updating and some are already uncomp. with newer blu-ray features.  Ps3 is more update friendly and future proof. Also is more reliable /less buggy than the other players on the market.

  7. Definitely go the PS3.

If for no other reason, get the PS3 because it can be easily updated.

Since the inital release of Bluray they have made some changes and therefore the first player can not use some of the special features that the latest movies have. The PS3 will always be able to keep up with the latest features.

Plus you can play games, surf the net, message friends and connect to your pc for a media centre.
