7/24/08 - 7/28/08: My Last Menstrual Period

7/31/08 - 8/1/08: Felt very strong Ovulation pains had EWCM and of course hubby and I BD'd

8/12/08: Negative on a HPT (First Response urine)

8/13/08: Started geting very tired and sleepy, was yawning all day just wanted to sleep andlay down, also getting nauseas mainly at night.

8/14/08: Started cramping lightly

8/15/08: Light positive (First Response urine)

8/17/08: Light Positive (First Response urine)

8/18/08: Negative at the Dr's Office (urine)

8/19/08: Light Positive (New Choice $1 Tree Brand urine)

Why has this happened, aren't the dr's test sensitive enough? How long should I wait to retest at the dr's? Has this happened to anyone? and do you know what kind of test the dr's use and how mUI they measure?

(First response measure at around 15 and $1 Tree tests at around 25)

  1. depending on your doc, but mine told me that their urine test was the same as what i took at home.

I would wait till this weekend, take another HPT, if the positive line comes up again, call the doctor and ask for a blood test. by this point they should be able to detect it..

as far as i know any light positive is a positive. perhaps call the nurse and discuss the results with her now..

Once i got a positive, it was always positive day or night, so i am not sure..

    good luck!

  2. Have the doctor do a blood test--that is the most accurate way.  It seems that you ovulated a bit close to your period, but everyone is so different.

  3. I would request that your doctor do a blood HCG test. They are much more sensitive and can detect even the smallest amount of pregnancy hormone.

  4. I believe a doctor's blood test can measure as little as 5mUI so I would give it another few days OR take a digital test where there's no question between "pregnant" or "not pregnant."  Usually "a line is a line" but if the dr's test didn't read PG then I would not get your hopes up too much (sorry!!!).  Try a digital test and see what it says today and if it comes back "iffy" then ask to be tested at the Dr's office again on, say, Thursday or Friday.

Unless you have a very short cycle, I don't think you would be O'ing 7/31-8/1?  Seems very soon after AF to be O'ing.
