Should I keep Norton on my Laptop?

Question

I bought a laptop recently, it has norton protection already on it, I have loaded it onto my laptop as my security for internet. Well its driving me crazy, it needs to have everything 'fixed' all the time and flashes red.

Which specific program should I install on my computer to get complete virus/ hacker protection?

Actually Norton is a very good security suite.  There aren't many that can top in securtiy.  Popups and annoyances are part of everyday life in Windows.

If you want you could try McAfee or AVG, shoot you could even try Kasperky or ClamAV if you feeling lucky.  But if you want real protection switch to OpenBSD and run a h**l sized firewall.

norton is the best. i have been using different program that didnt do me any justice but norton is good. it really blocks the pop-ups.

well Norton is a pretty good virus protection and i think u should keep it. when the light flashes red it mean something is wrong with ur computer and u can fix it by clicking fix. if i was u i would keep it. wordup

Mine did something similar. My new laptop came with Mcafee Anti Virus already on there. But within a few weeks certain parts of the program began to stop working one by one. Turns out it was only a free trial and they wanted me to register it and pay for the full version. I think this might be the case with yours.

I now use avast! which i downloaded from www.cnet.com/downloads, and have found it a great Anti Virus (it's free too) - thats still working.

no Norton got 8th place out of the ten best antivirus.

the best three are bit-defender kaspersky and nod32

I will keep it if I was you.

when the light flashes red it mean something is wrong with your computer and you need to fix it by clicking fix.

once you finish the updates and a FULL scan, it will be great.

I don't think you should keep norton. When I got my new computer, Norton slowed it down alot.. I immeadiately deleted it. A good thing for you to download would be Avast. Avast.com

Avast is a protection that is free for a long time, and it gives as much protection as norton. Norton costs money, and it slows the PC down. Once you uninstall Norton and install Avast, it goes as fast as a whiz.

Norton is not a very good antivirus and you have to pay for it. Get Avast. Avast is free and works much better than norton.

Its a pretty expensive programme to buy, we have it at work

and yes it sometimes works too good blocking important things it thinks are harmful like connections

Just check its expiry date and maybe wait it out then purchase a new protection :)
