Question:

Should I leave my fever alone?

36-year-old female. Had to take two ibuprofen last night to fall asleep (99.0 to 99.2 temp, skin very sensitive). Today, I'm at work and my fever is still in the 99.0 to 99.4 range, I have a headache, and my skin is extremely sensitive, but I feel I can endure it for now. Is it more advantageous to leave a low fever (99-100) alone to let it attack the source of the illness, rather than take medicine for symptom relief?

  1. I'm in the same boat as you today.  This morning I looked up "fever" on Wikipedia.  The sections titled "Usefulness of fever" and "treatment" may be good for you to read.

But I'm sure overall, the answer is "it depends on what your fever is a reaction to".

  2. First of all, its technically not a fever until its 100.4.

People's temp ranges throught the day and at some points it can be a while point higher then yout normal

Leave it be, dont take more meds unless u need them for headache
