Question:

Should I let him see his daughter?

My daughter's father recently took me to court for paternity. He didn't want it until I took him to court for child support. For three years he has not really done anything for her. He probably spent about 2 or $300 for her out of her whole life. He picks her up whenever he wants to and when he takes her he comes back with nothing. The sad part is he took me to court for visitation and won it. He doesn't give me money for her and this has been going on for years. My boyfriend, her stepfather thinks he shouldn't take her anymore because he's putting her through so much. I 100% agree with him. Also, his excuse for not giving me anything is because he has things at his house for her. So I asked "How is that helping me?" What do you think?

  1. Even if he won visitation were there no set times when he could do it? If it is sporadic then go back to court and set boundaries and go after him for back support. A lot of states they lose their license or have to do jail time for getting way behind. You just need to get more control on this that is all.

  2. Your ex sounds like a child that needs to be put on a schedule!

If he has visitation you need to let him see her on the days/times specified in the court order. If he visits outside those times don't let him take her. That said, the man's a jerk and I'm sorry for the c**p he's putting you guys through!

He's just p!ssed because he doesn't want to give you money to support your child. If he's not paying child support, then you need to go back to court and have the order enforced.

  3. Take him back to court.  In this type of court case,  money = visitation.  No money--no visitation.

  4. I think he needs to pay child support and I think you should let your daughter spend time with her father. He needs to be a parent and that means supporting her in all ways. Try to get a court ordered child support amount. Let him know that you understand that he does have to pay for things at his house but he also needs to help with her everyday needs and you are the primary parent.

  5. Gurl you take that man back to court and dry him out i was put threw they same stuff in febuary i was put in  a mental hospital for a week becuz of all the stress and drama my father has put on me in the past 16 almost 17 years

    GOOD LUCK

  6. legally, you can't stop him from seeing his daughter if he has a court order to see her. However, you can make it where he has to follow the terms of the order. If he has weekend visits and is to pick her up at 6 pm but doesn't arrive until 7, you do not have to wait for him or cancel what ever plans you have made. Just make sure that you keep a record of when he does come and pick her, and when he brings her back and keep notes of when he has called her. You cannot enforce the visitation but you can't deny him either.

I know it sucks. I would love to cut my X outof y kids live because he is so undependable. He will call them on Wed and tell them he's coming friday to get them then not show up or call or return their calls. So now, we go ahead with what ever was planned for that weekend and if he shows up and were not here, oh well. I have it documented and keep very detailed notes about when he does come and when he calls, so when he chooses to take me back to court to enforce the agreement, he won't have a leg to stand on. He is also very far behind in child support and we go to court on that issue later in sept. He has to get current before the court date or the judge is putting hiim in jail. The judge has given him 10 different chances to get caught up and stay current but he still doesn't pay for his kids. He earns well over 80 grand a yr and I'm lucky that I get 1000 of it due to all of his "other kids" he has fathered and not takening responsiblites for. I will be glad to see him behind bars and his bail is set at the amount of back support he owes plus interest. Gotta love my attorney for helping me go after his ***
