Should I let the cashier know?

i went to food shopping today and bought like 10 items. the cashier scanned 1 of the seafood items and I saw it pop up on the screen as $1.69, when i read the receipt it printed on it as veg., i also got frozen veg. too and the seafood item wasn't on the receipt. The seafood bag was similar price, i'm at home right now and wondering should I tell the cashier next time I see her that she scanned the item but it didn't go through? and that i owe her $1.69 or less or more? Have this ever happened to you?

  1. to tell you the truth its not going to matter the her if you do or don't.

  2. Well if it came up on the screen i'd think it'd be scaned, but I'm not sure of this, its good to be honest, but i'd just forget it cause it showed up on the screen.

  3. I think it's too much time since you bought all of this stuff.

  4. since this is a mere $1.69 you are talking about, you should be ok. if it was more, like $5 or something, i would most definitely go back to her, however, it is just one time. if you notice this continuously happening, i would talk with whoever the cashier was because it is unfair, but it was 1 time, so no stress.

  5. I tried to go back into a grocery store and pay for something the cashier had forgotten to scan.  It was the biggest pain in the rear, since noone knew what to do.  Now, I just put the extra money in the church envelope.

  6. i ever experience this...

i think if you can't get this easy on your concious, then you better tell the cashier.

for me, if the boss or shop owner is rich, then i'll just keep quiet, but if he/ she is just a worker and may see the amount i owe him/her as a large amount baesd on their financial ability, then i'll surely give back the money for the cashier.

  7. just put 2 bucks in the donation jar next time your there and call it a day :)

  8. If it was a scanned item I feel the mistake is theirs.  It's not up to the consumer to educate the the retailer on how to input correct pricing on items.  On the plus side, if an item you purchase is listed as one price and it is scanned and you are over charged, you are entitled to a bounty, which is 10 times the amount that you were overcharged up to $5, plus the amount returned that you were overcharged. This is the law in Michigan, I'm not sure about other states.

  9. no need

  10. yeah that was the cashiers bad. she/he should have been more carefull. if you go all the way back it will just be a waste of gas and time. if they do not know how to do their job the right way that is not your problem. when they do inventory they will just count it as lost or damaged goods. so what is the point

  11. well that's nice of you to want to be honest.

I think if you had noticed it there as you're paying for the item and not mention anything then that would be dishonest of  you.  but because you're home now and just noticed it, you didn't mean for her to make a mistake you should just let it be.

she'd much rather have you not say anything then to get her in trouble.
