I accidently ran my car into a pole that scraped and dented the whole passenger side of my car. If I tell the insurance company that someone hit me while i was parked in a lot will they know I am lying? Should I tell the truth? Will this make my insurance go up?

  1. Yes, they will most likely find out.  They will ask you for pictures of the damage, and they are very experienced.  Their investigators have probably seen hundreds of accidents, and they know what kind of damage is caused by a pole and what isn't.  I wouldn't risk it.

  2. No, don't lie. This could result in fines against you.

  3. Thats called fraud, It's a federal offense, I wouldn't do it, Because they can easily catch you.

  4. since its your own fault i wouldn't tell them anything and just drive the car the way it is.

  5. I know that it is hard to believe but lying is wrong. If you file a claim, no matter if you are honest or not, your rates will go up. They may not pay for it if they know the truth but I hardly see why that would justify the lie.

  6. its not good to lie to insurance companies if they find out its fraud and you can get into big big trouble. You will be impossible to insurance in that case. They may both raise your insurance prices but don't lie. They may come out and look at your car personally and determine that you are lying.

  7. Either way you do it your rates will go up, a claim is a claim.

  8. do u have full insurance or liabity?

  9. If you lie to your insurance company and say someone hit you, you will be committing insurance fraud, which is a felony crime.

When you are convicted of that crime (notice I said when, not if) you can be sent to prison and can be fined heavily.

Your insurance company will, of course, cancel your insurance policy, and will not pay the claim based on your fraudulent claim.

Maybe try being honest and not a criminal might work, eh?

  10. You can, but it will probably make the insurance higher, like you park in bad neighborhoods or on the street or something- meaning at risk. I would not, if they catch you you are in deep- fraud!

  11. that would be insurance fraud and yes..they will catch you

  12. I told my insurance company I went outside one morning to get into my van and didn't know how the damage to the back of my van occurred.  I paid the $200 deductible and my insurance went up because I had no one to lay the blame on.

  13. not a good idea. don't try it...they will find out and you will get in trouble.

  14. By all means lie, and while your at it say that you spilled overly hot coffee on your lap and now you cant have kids or even s*x again....you will gain millions,  we will pick up the tab on our insurance rates...enjoy!

  15. You should tell ther truth because that will only help you. Insurance companies work with many people that can look into your case and tell if you are lieing or not. One thing you can say is that you are driving down the street and a car was coming your way and you went that way and that's how your car looks like that. You were too scared and came home and then reported to them. good luck.

  16. Nothing would be gained by lying.  Your insurance will have to be the one to fix your car in either case.  Will your insurance rate go up ?  Maybe.  If you don't report it at all your rates will not go up but you will have to pay for the repairs yourself.  Do the math...........  Always tell the truth

  17. Id tell the truth cause if by a small chance they find out your lying its a felony and you will go to prison which is not worth anything you could gain from it also considering your asking here sounds like it might not be to hard for them to figure that out =/
