I hear that the two sides or different. I'm a 24 year old filmmaker moving to the area and I wanna know where would be the best place for me to live.. and does it snow a lot in Kansas city because I'm from the south and I always wanted to have a snowy Christmas.

  1. If its only between Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, KS, I would chose Kansas City, Missouri.  Kansas City, KS is located in Wyandotte County which is not a very safe area we call it Crime - dot. Kansas City, Missouri at least has some nice pockets plus the arts and culture are located on the Missouri side.  Specifically, if you want to live near the arts community I would suggest the Midtown Area, the Art School, the Nelson Atkins Museum, all the cool clubs and the University are located in Midtown.  I do need to warn you rent can be a bit high and if you don't research throughly you could get a dodgy rental however in the end the good out weigh the bad on the Missouri side... Also in the Winter it gets very cold and it snows alot!!! Pack accordingly because it will be a shock :-)

  2. Ok we don't always get a snowy Christmas.  The last Christmas we got a snowy christmas on Christmas morning not Christmas Eve.  But we always get a cold Christmas.  Since ur black (i can tell by ur avatar) i would move south of the river.  North of the river is a little racist for some reason.  If you live south of the river you can still get all the benifits of kansas city with out having to drive to far.  And your right the two sides are totally different.  I think KCMO is a little more upbeat than KCK.  but thats just my opinion.

  3. It really depends on where you plan on doing most of your work.  If you live in Kansas and work in Missouri (or vice versa) you're going to get hit with dual state tax (on your income).  Both states offer "credits" for living in one state and working in another, but it's best to just avoid it altogether.  If you are going to be working in Kansas, look at some of the suburbs like Olathe, Overland Park, Shawnee, Lenexa, Merriam, etc. rather than Kansas City, KS.  If you are going to be working in Missouri, like a previous post, stay out of central KCMO.  Downtown is a pretty happening place to be right now with all of the revitalization going on.  You might want to get into a loft downtown or even check out the Quality Hill district.  Outside of downtown, north of the river areas are pretty nice, Parkville, Liberty, KC... can't go wrong with any of those.

  4. Yes, it snows a lot...personally , I do not care for Kansas City, but if you are moving there, the suburbs or the Kansas side are sure better.  Stay out of central kansas City, Mo...dirty, ugly, horrid traffic, etc.
