  1. no. they might have to break the zipper to get into the siutcase and then you will probably be very mad if that happens

  2. No.  Security does NOT always use their master key to open "approved" padlocks - they often cut the locks or rip open the bags.

Secure your bag(s) with something like a plastic cable-tie, or even just a twist-tie (like from a bread bag).  Use a luggage strap for suitcases that have latches (close but don't lock the latches).

Mark or tag all checked luggage with something that makes the bags more distinctive. An example would be to attach a strip of colored tape to each side of the bag. It reduces the chance someone might pick up your bag by mistake at baggage claim (there are millions of black suitcases). Also clearly tag ALL bags >>> inside and outside <<< with your name and a good phone number + e-mail address (but not your home address). The free tags from the check-in counter are OK.

  3. If you do, make sure it has a lock approved by the Transportation and Safety group. Locks like this are clearly marked as such and can be unlocked by the people checking your bags. They will then lock it back after checking them. If you use any other lock, they will break the lock to gain access.

  4. They will break off the lock - who knows what you can have in there? No province is going to except a bag that looks as though its hiding something...just get an old fashion zip up bag to secure it :] Maybe the lock would work only if the bag was see threw other then that i don't knoww
