Should I machine dry or hang dry Tommy Hilfiger polo knit shirts to prevent shrinking?

  1. General rule of thumb:

    If it's got cotton in it and you don't want it to shrink a lot, do not put it in the dryer.  I don't care what the washing instructions say.  


  2. always first read the label inside the clothing and it always tells you care instructions but from experience heat will definitely shrink knit shirts so you can either put the dryer on the lowest heat setting or there should be an air dry option that uses no heat. or if you choose to hang dry make sure you check on them every two hours or so b/c it can take shape of the hanger (or whatever your using to hang them) and dry oddly shaped so you can shape them up once in a while.  

  3. If you hang dry you are guaranteed not to have a shrinkage problem.  You could try the dryer on a LOW cycle and then finish off by hang drying.
