  1. Thank you letters are very appropriate and the sooner the better.  A short and professional email is perfect.

  2. handwritten, and mailed. Make sure your spelling and punctuation are correct. (I had a friend mail a thank you letter after being hired for a job and had the job offer retracted after the boss discover a spelling mistake) It's never a bad idea to say thank you.

  3. Neither.  Thank you letters for interviews are another way of "brown nosing" to the boss.  I wouldn't bother.  Either you have the job or you don't.

  4. never really heard of anyone sending a thank you letter for an interview.

  5. As someone who is intimately involved with the interviewing process at a major corporation I can tell you that thank you letters are always a nice touch.  I would not fax the note, it should be sent via regular mail.  It is also perfectly acceptable to send a note via email to the interviewers, hiring managers, HR managers.   Just be sure to use proper writing etiquette!  NO abbreviations, NO bad grammar, and watch your punctuation!   Don't overdo it.  Keep it short and simple.  Thank them for their time, express your interest in working for the company and let them know that you look forward to hearing from them.

  6. I am not very big on sending a thank you leffer for an interview, but if you really want to do it, I would definetly say via fax is NOT the way to go. I would say by mail is more meaningful and I would hand write it to added the extra personal meaningful touch.

  7. I think either would be fine, but mailing might be better.  The faxing would probably be understood since it's a week late, so that's why I say it would probably be okay, too.  I hesitate to say handwritten, because if your handwriting is as bad as mine, you better type it and just sign at the bottom!

And to the ones who say don't send it at all, any job hunting expert or HR person you speak to will tell you to send a thank you letter.  It's not brown nosing, it's keeping your face in front of the interviewer's mind.  It's smart marketing!

  8. Handwritten in the mail is best.
