Should I mail out her 19 cents?

Question

I delivered a pizza today and the total came to 41.81 and handed me a 50 and wanted 8.00 back, so I asked her if she wanted her 19 cents back as well and she said no so I was like thank you so very much, I really appreceate that and left. She called the store to complain in her southern accent saying that I was rude and she really didn't want her 19 cents back. Now I feel bad about it and want to mail her 19 cents back. What do you think?

why do you feel bad at all?  she was more insulting to you than you were to her.

Lousy as it is, that 19 cents is a tip....yours to keep.  Its never good to be rude to a customer, but with gas prices where they are....a 19 cent tip is more of an insult than anything.

If you have a checking account, you could mail her 19 checks for 1 penny each...but then she would have your addy.

It seems there might have been a breakdown in communication. Let's assume that you asked her if she wanted her 19 cents back because you were not sure if she knew her change was 8.19 and not just 8.00. She misunderstood and thought you were being sarcastic when you said thank you because 19 cents is not much. You were grateful because you did not have the 19 cent change and she saved you the hassle but she missed your meaning. There are people who overreact without much provocation but do not take it too personally. Atleast your employer understood that her complaint was not worth your job. Try express yourself fully because a lot of people like reading between the lines and make unnecessary fuss.

As I can see you are young plus you are very sensitive ; dear listen to me I had worked in a  restaurant       for many yrs and prepare yourself because their will be always those kind of b*****s and even mens can be real arrogant and cheap ; and yes keep this small tip ; its her she should be ashamed and I think she is ;so let her live with her greed and her bad manners

I don't get why you feel bad exactly, but if you do, the last thing you should do is get into it with her more by contacting her. Just try to be more polite the next time someone is a jerk if you don't want to fell bad.
