Question:

Should I make my friend pay for damaging my phone?

My friend accidentally dropped my 200 dollar phone in a creek and it got water damage and now it won't work. I have to pay a 50$ deductible for a new phone and she is only offering to pay half. Do you think this is fair? I feel like it's not fair because it is not my fault and if I ever drop my phone in water again I won't be able to get another one because of the insurance policy.

If it's not fair what do you think I should say without sounding mean? Thanks.

  1. Challenge her to a fight to pay for it. Even if you lose the fight, you still got to take a swing at her! LOL!!!

  2. I think she is trying her best to make it upto you. Don't break friends just because of a mobile phone, life is too short. Accept the 25 dollars

  3. She should pay for your whole deductible.  Not only that, she should be very thankful that you have insurance.

  4. i got an idea. I'll bring the kiddie pool full of jello and you guys can duke it out. :P j/k

depends on which one is more important to you. that friend or your 200 dollar phone. personally i would just grab her half of the money and i would get a new phone. i don't like drama.

  5. no that will run your friendship

  6. well you could but it depends on the type of friend you have

  7. It was an accident...your friend is not responsible to pay for the deductible.  It was nice of her to offer to pay half.

  8. Yes i think its fair but i would feel bad taking her money. But it is fair.  it was just an accident, but still it was her fault.

  9. If you want to keep the friendship, take the $25.00 offer.

You don't tell the circumstances of how she dropped it.  If she was angry or messing around, I'd probably want the entire deductible.

If it was an innocent accident, I'd take the $25.00.  Don't let her touch another phone of yours at all.

  10. Yeh thats totally not fair, if she dropped it Im with you she should pay the full amount to fix it.  Why is she offering to pay only half?  Is it because it's your phone and not hers?  Thats pretty lame.  Just say to her 'hey I would totally pay the full amount if it were your phone I damaged.'

Yes she done it by accident but the bottom line is she damaged it and a decent friend would be happy to pick up the bill to repair it.  I think shes just being a little tight!

  11. yes i think it's fair b/c you should have not let her use your phone so make her pay half.

  12. Make her pay for it. Even though it's an accident, it's still her fault. If I was your friend, I would be embarrassed to pay only half the price. Just tell her that you're a little short so you can't buy another phone unless you have the money. She IS your friend, right? She should understand.

  13. Was your phone in mint condition when your friend broke it, and are you at some how to blame. Like maybe how you passed it to her.

If it wasn't in mint condition, you cant expect her to pay the whole $50, but if it was thats a different story. At the end of the day, how much is your friendship worth.

  14. well, it was an accident, and accidents do happen. but maybe she doesnt have the money to pay all of it.

  15. Just take the $25. I'm sure she did not do it on purpose. If I were her and you were tripping about a phone I accidentally broke I would pay you and not talk to you ever again. Its not that serious.

  16. Tell her she has to pay, why should she only pay half when it was 100% her fault?

  17. ur friend probally didnt mean to drop it after all you said it was an accident and after all accidents do happen so you should let her pay what she can and you should pay the rest after all friends fight and make up all the time now if shes a true friend she'll at least pay 75% of it since it is her fault

  18. i would if i were you

  19. She broke it so I honestly think you should make her pay for it.
