Should I make the fixtures (toilet, shower base) white or matching the tile?

We are completely remodelling our master bathroom. We just picked out all the tile and it is really nice and in the "bone" or "biscuit" color range (kind of the really light beige). My question is, generally speaking, if these are the colors you are chosing would you go with a bone or biscuit colored toilet and shower base or would you just go with plain white? I don't know which would look better or if there is a general rule when doing the bathroom. Thanks!

I prefer white too.

You can choose some nice accessories such a picture,soap dish, towels, and rug with your tile color in it to pull the look together.

I would probably go with the bone or biscuit toilet and shower base, because I like the look of a bathroom that all blends together.  You can get variations on the color for an affect that still has texture, but if you get white it will contrast.  That's not a bad thing, just make sure you're doing it on purpose.  And if you are going to do that on purpose, you should probably put white elsewhere in the room (like in the trim, or decorations).  Then it will look like it's part of your color scheme, rather than just an "oops".

When in doubt, go with the basic (in this case, solid white) The areas where you can do really neat alternative things should be left to the sink, tubs, and light fixtures.

Think of going with the new "bowl" type of sink--its very modern, yet looks as if it was an antique or vintage item. What about a double pedestal sink?  Go all out with the lighting, and add unique mirrors. You can have all of your  towel racks, bathroom sheet holders, etc. to be the same theme, such as brushed nickel or antique brass.

Perhaps the fixtures ought to stand out, so that you won't accidently bump into them.
