  1. that depends on the style, color, theme you have going on the exterior. if you it doesn't clash, have at it! good luck!

  2. No you don't.    Your outside fixtures could be brass, platinum, stainless or carriage black.  Your outside fixtures should speak to the decor of your exterior.  Not your interior necessarily.  Unless you are doing a similar look inside and out and it is quite specific like a Mediterranean or something equally as specific, no match is required.

  3. No.  Match it to any other metals on the front of the house.  Mailbox, street numbers etc.and have the style be in keeping with the style of the house.  No carriage lamps on contemporaries, for instance.

But the rule you must follow is to please yourself - if you like it go for it!

  4. You could, but no one but you will notice.  However, if you are onto a theme that you really like, go ahead.  It'll please you, and give the home an undetectable element of continuity.

    Good thinking!

  5. Probably; because if you are asking, it will bother you if you mix it up.

My house was built in 1980, and there are a lot of brass light fixtures, hinges, cabinet pulls  and doorknobs in it.  The outside light fixtures used to be brass, but we changed them to black when we painted the house  a camel color.  The brass house numbers just didn't show up anymore.  Inside, still brass!  I want a new light over my kitchen table,

but the ones I like are all a silver tone.  I just can't do it!

  6. No, you need to match the metal color to what you have inside. Or what ever goes best to your inside decor.
