  1. yes you should it is a beautiful city and I live in dallas and visited Austin many time and it would be a great place to raise a child .

I can't tell you about your livelyhood but Austin is the place to be.

  2. well it depends

  3. I have been there on vacation and I asked why the traffic was soooo bad, and they said that it was growing faster than they could keep up...

I wouldn't live near the university,, etc.. the traffic along that hwy is a snails pace.  The outskirts would be better.  You are close to many beautiful places including san Antonio, and Kerrville is where I want to move infact, and then there is the small town of Gruene to visit... next to New Braunfels,,which is gorgeous also.

  4. Texas is awesome.  It is growing.  Austin is only about 45 minutes from San Antonio.  San Antonio was just listed as the second fastest growing city in the U.S.  (second to Phoenix).  It is the seventh largest city in the U.S.  The Real Estate market is booming here in San Antonio.  So, if you wanted to live in Austin, a commute to San Antonio would be no big deal.  I don't know about the market in Austin itself, but San Antonio is bursting with population growth.  A lot of people commute between Austin and San Antonio.  Good Luck.  I think Texas is great.  Friendly people here.

  5. I'm in Real Estate here in Austin and I've lived here since 5th grade. I've traveled all over the world and can tell you that there is absolutley no place like Austin.  Its got a very laid back vibe, people are just genuinely "simpatico" and the place is beautiful!  You can find a cool, young urban district downtown with live music, bars, gallaries and restaruants.  Or take a 5 min detour to any one of the numerous hike and bike trails throughout Austin.  Town Lake is a great downtown Austin landmark where you can find hundreds of people at any given time, hiking, biking,  walking--- many times with fido in tow.  Austin is a very dog/pet friendly city and a new city ordinance passed allowing Austinites the opportunity to bring their dogs to dog-friendly restaruants. Lake Travis--- wow, that's a whole other Austin experience.  From March- August, Lake Travis is buzzing with boaters and swimmers alike.  Tie up your boat to any one of the 50-60 others out in Devil's Cove.  Not for the kids-- this little area hosts tons of crazy, drunken fun.  There's so much more about Austin, its just a one of a kind place.  Being in Real Estate, I can tell you though, that this little secret is getting out.  People are flocking here in droves in search of all that Austin has to offer.  It certainly is like NO OTHER place in Texas, and like no other place in the US.
