I have been living at my current place for 2 years my place needs to be repainted and there is a hole int the roof of the bathroom that the maintenance guy started working on and forgot for 3 months. I keep reminding him and nothing. Now I just want to move. My apt is dirty and disgusting. Im on a month to month for now b/c my lease was up and I didn't want to renew it under these conditions. I don't have money to move. What should I do? Miami Beach, Fl. Thanks

  1. don't pay rent until they fix what you need. if they say you have to pay then say fine i will pay less until things are fix

  2. Dont sign another lease. Keep putting your landlord off if he insists just like he is at fixing the ceiling etc.

Look for a friend to stay with then put your furntiture in storage, til you get some money saved.  Make arrangements with the person you move in with what will be your cost for utilties etc

  3. If I were you I'd try my best to move. It doesn't sound like it is a good place to live. Repairs are the things the landlord should do. But cleaning the apt. is up to you. You don't have to live in filth, especially if you made it. Clean it up. Threaten to report your landlord to the authorities about the leaking roof. But in the meanwhile: clean it up.

  4. Well, you just said you don't have money to move so you have no option. The best thing that you can do is clean your house so you'll be comfortable living in it. Keep bugging the management, not the maintenance guy, about getting the roof done.
