I am from a small town in Kentucky. I really want to move to NYC. I am still living at home with my parents right now and I really am dying to get out and get a life of my own. Should I move to a smaller city first? I was thinking it would be a good way to get started and to get used to being by myself. I am just kind of afraid I won't be able to leave later. I was thinking of living in Lexington for awhile.

  1. Yea, I think it would be good to move to a smaller city first.  That way you can figure out a budget, be independent but still close enough to home, and just experience what it's like to have your own apartment.

NYC is fun....but it's huge and overwhelming!  I live in NJ real close to NYC and everything is so overpriced....I've never had any desire to live in NYC.  It's way too urban and crowded.

I'm in my early 20s so I also live with my parents so I understand what you mean about starting out on your own. I'm going to be moving to Denver...just cause it's smaller and not as crazy as NYC.  But NYC is great, I have a lot of friends that absolutely love it, there are tons of things to do, etc.  I just wouldn't want to live in a tiny, tiny little apt that is really expensive.
