Should I name my son Nolan or Nevin?

If you're African American Nolan is a good strong name, but Nevin sounds kinda lame and dorky.

But if you're white then don't touch either with a very long stick. A white kid will get seriously bullied at school for having a name like that. They make good family names but are poor choices for given names.

Most definitely Nevin

Compared to Nolan its way more distinguished sounding and plus its also way more unique.  Another thing is that you know your child won't go to school with a  Bunch of other kids with that name. I love Nevin and if I was having ã boy I would Most definitely use that name ;) Hope I helped even if only ã little

What is up with the people who think Nolan is a black name?  No way, Nolan is an awesome name for any race, ethnicity, whatever.  If my baby due in three weeks is a boy, his name will be Roman.  I have had a couple people tell me that it is a Polish name.  Really?  If anything I thought it would be Italian.  Besides, stereotypes p**s me off and if anyone is surprised to find out Roman's parents are two English/French/American mutts instead of Polish, maybe it will open their minds and broaden their horizons.  Whatever, I am just saying the name Nolan is a great name, one of my favorites, and I highly recommend it.  Nevin...I wish I could say I liked it, but I don't.  I really hope this helped, good luck & God bless!

I know quite a few 18-20 year old males named Nolan (Thanks to Nolan Ryan). All white and none have gotten beaten up because of the name.

I've only heard of Nevin used as a first name here (Ireland). I've only heard of Nolan as a surname

Nolan is cute and if your Chicago Cub fan he'll be named after the baseball player Nolan Ryan. Not Nevin that sounds like an acne wash or something.

I like them both, but Nolan is my pick.

I LOVE the name Nolan (it means "champion", just in case you weren't aware of that)! I think it's a strong, masculine name that works for both a young child and as a man. My nephew's best friend is an adorable little boy named Nolan - he is so smart, polite and a great little baseball player, so that's what I always associate the name with.

For the person who suggested that both of these choices were "black" names and that a white child with either of these names would get beat: I know three people named Nolan (one adult, 2 kids) and one person named Nevin, and they're all white.
