Should I not be in Track or something?

I just started track (for the summer) It's the very first time i've ever done it and I'm not in very good shape. Today was my 2nd day. Well today we did our stretches and excersises which included lots of lunges. After those my legs were slightly wobbly from the lunges. About 5 minutes after, my coach took the four of us to one side of the track and said we were going to run 300 meters and she wanted us to run it in about 45 seconds. I ran as fast as I could until I got to the curve and I started to slow down and had to walk. The others were way past me. After I walked the curve I ran the rest of the way. As soon as I finished the coach told me I should go try discus. So she showed me where it was and I went over there and did discus for the rest of the track practice. After the discus coach said I was done I went back over to where my coach was and she was busy talking to someother people and she told the other girls to do crunches ect. So I joined them *more below*

  1. To be honest, it sounds like you're out of shape, at least in a running sense. You need to spend a little bit of extra time outside of practice working up your endurance.

  2. Maybe you're just in the wrong events.

See how you are at the 1600 (or 1500, depending on your state) and 3200. Practice by going on long runs with a group.

Whatever event you end up choosing, you'll have to put in hard work to improve.

  3. Maybe you should take a year off to work at your own pace to get in shape.    The girls you are running with seem like they have experience and you must not be in shape yet since a 300 is a sprint.  Take the year to run some 800 and miles to get in shape and then once you feel confident that you can run those try the 400 and 300 until it gets easy.  If you do it by yourself you will have to make sure you dont slack off or it will be a waste of time but it will help because you wont have to work with great athletes and have coaches expecting you to run that.  Then by next year you will be able to and it wont be as bad.

  4. If you really like it stick with it, your endurance/speed will build up much quicker than you could imagine. Just keep going out there and working at it and your coach will notice you...

  5. The coach just probably doesnt see dedication..Its anyone should be able to run 200m without walking.. if you have to walk your givin in way to easy.. no matter how many lunges you did before.. A 45 sec 200 is not asking much of anyone..If track is something you want to do.. you need to train find something you like and stick with it, you may not run this year in meets but you will eventually.. Also if you want to do distance, 3 laps isnt much you need to run 4-5 times a week atleast 2 miles + a day..If these suggestions seem crazy or hard, then i hate to say it but maybe you shouldn't run track..Dont mean to be hard on you or anything, but I hope this helps..

  6. honestly, if you want someone to notice you, work the hardest you can for as long as you can. Go to every practice optional or not and give it your all every time! You will get better thats a no brainer, you just have to work for it.

  7. The first couple of days of track r very hard! no joke! u need to learn how to gain Resistance!(stamina) u need to run the 200. then once u get good at that u can move up to the 300. eat healthy and try to go on runs on ur own time! trust me its all worth it. do not quit! even if it is so hard.

  8. i'm sorry, but if you can't run three-quarters of the track, then running just isn't your thing right now. you should try some field events.
