  1. There's no reason to submit it if you don't include a name or address, it shows a lack of seriousness on your part.

More heinous, however, is their lack of disclosure. I would skip those, and go for the reputable ones who can divulge key information like their name and where they're located.

  2. Here is a good method of handling Craigslist:

Do not respond to anything with a link inside of the ad, unless you see the company's info. and they are sending you to a REAL site; most of the ones with links seem to be scammers.

Watch the gmail addresses. If they have someone's name and then the gmail it is probably a scammer. I have found that 99% of the ads with gmail seem to be scammers. You can usually tell from the ad, like it will not mention a specific town or has a bunch of duties listed that may be odd.

If an ad has an actual town in it, not a general area, it is usually ok. But, at the same time you do not know who it is.

You just have to sift through the ads. I have answered 4 ads. All of them were very brief, but they described the job duties in them in a normal way and they had an actual city listed. They either used the CL or their company email or they had you send it to a fax with an actual area code that made sense.

The thing about all of the ads I answered: CHEAP employers. One of them should have been paying double. The people were crazy. The other one was also crazy and did not read my cover letter because when I arrived and they began the interview, they did not understand I could only work certain hours-I specifically put that in my letter. They were just rude. The third one was weird. That is all I will say about that. The fourth one was not enough hours for me, but they were very nice.

If you answer an ad, use your gut. Do not meet them at night and make sure you are going to an actual office. Get their name and address and phone number-no PO Boxes or cells. Look it up and make sure it is real. I had my husband drive by 2 of the places. I did not meet with the other 2, but they did exist. Good luck!

  3. I would call the number and try to get more info before sending your resume to something like that.  Or better yet, why not try Careerbuilder? you can post your resume there, and if you don't want your resume to be searchable, you can hide it and have the option of sending only to the jobs you apply to?  good luck!
