I plan on traveling from seattle to Philadelphia in July. Ive been looking around and best deal I found is on priceline. Flight to philadlephia is on frontier and coming back is US AIR. I went on each of the respective airlines websites and looked up those same flights(one-way) and the total if I purchased one way tickets from each airline individually(the same exact flights as on priceline-is only $6 more. So obviosuly price is not a factor. So basically my question is if I am better off purchasing thru priceline or airlines directly. I am not a frequent flyer so I do not know pricelines policies, guarantees, etc. I basically just want to know which one is more secure and reliable and trustworthy i guess. So what is a better option?

  1. I would go with the airline

as you might find price line tell you all the seats are book

yet when you go the airline website you might still find some seats available

(thats because the airlines only allocate a certain number of seat to 3rd party's (travelocity, price line etc

plus the airlines pays  fee for each reservation they make

if you book direct with the airline you might have less

    fees)

  2. Go with the airline! If you have any problems with missed flights, cancellations, rescheduling, delays etc. your life will be a whole lot better than if you book through a 3rd party website. Also, sometimes fares booked through discount websites are not eligible for frequent flyer miles, where they most likely will be eligible if you book through the airline. Definitely book through the airline if the fares are comparable, always.

  3. The airlines won't tell you this but if the flight is oversold they choose who to bump according to who paid the least and who purchased their tickets through a discount source. If I were you and the price is not that different I would go directly through the airline. Enjoy your trip!
