It is electric and is 5 years old. The repair man already has quoted me at $200. I am not sure of the value, it came with the house, but I would say roughly $300 new.

  1. Depends on whats wrong with it.A dryer is only a timer, belt, motor, and heating coil. Each of which can be replaced(except motor) for usualy less than $50 if you do it yourself. However if the body has a lot of rust it might make more sense to get a newer used one.

  2. if the dryer that you went to buy is better then your i would buy the new one. because youof the dryer. and if i repair it will it last for that can of money

  3. at that price i would buy a new one, just the basic model, all the whistles and bells just cause trouble, I have a basic Maytag that is 23 yrs old still ticking,

  4. you did not say if the the dryer runs on gas or electric.

You did not say what the value of your present dryer originally cost or how old it was.

You didnot say what you reasonable spending limit was.

So I cannot give you my best opinion.

  5. Used one for 100  as long as it is not too old. Test it out to make sure it does dry.
