Question:

Should I pay for the parking ticket or my Boyfriend?

My boyfriend and I were spending the afternoon together. I asked, since it's close by, if we could go to my school to schedule myself an appt. He agreed and parked away from the main campus but still a school zone. We were both unaware of that. When we finished(5min later), he got a parking ticket. Now he made such a big deal and I felt like it was my fault I told him I would pay for it if the appeal was not accepted. 10days later, he informs me that the appeal wasnt accepted. I told him I would pay(feeling bad) and he says that he feels like he should step up and just pay himself but lets me pay for it. I then suggest 50-50 and he gets really bothered with my suggestion. However, "if that's what'll make me happy, then whatever, he'll pay half." Was I in the wrong? Should i pay? Why is he upset with the 50-50 suggestion, to me it's fair?!

  1. 50-50 is good because you are both still students.

  2. u should have him pay for it cause hes the men and thats what we do for u ladies

  3. He should pay attention to where he parks.  He's a clod if he takes your money.

  4. It's his car, his responsibility. However, half seems fair under the circumstances.

  5. The 50/50 suggestion is fair. He was the one who parked in a school zone, not you. Both of you where at fault.

  6. Let him pay, he's the man.

  7. you said you would pay it...do it

  8. Sounds like he is being macho.  I think 50-50 is fair.  You made the appointment, and he, as the driver, should have been paying attention to the school zone parking.

  9. Do you also pay half his petrol and running costs for his car?

You are still at school but I do hope you learn what fairness and responsibility is.

Yes he was partly responsible but he would not have been there at all but for you!!!!

  10. no he should pay 100%. whoever was driving and chose the parking spot is at fault. and it was really nice of you to offer to pay for the ticket, but just because you wanted to go to the school does not make it your fault.
