Question:

Should I play Water Polo?

I will be a junior in high school next year. And I am moving to a school where water polo is available. I have about three friends at the new school who play waterpolo and are fairly good at it. As for the requirements, I'm a good swimmer who taught myself how to swim (my dad and grandfather were great swimmers) and I naturally learned the different swimming strokes. And I have a a full sized pool to practice in. Should I learn this sport? How can I practice for it this summer and possibly get on the team? What would I need to do???

Thanks in advance!

  1. Go for it. Talk to your friends and find out where they play summer or club ball at?  I coach in the bay area and there are plenty of teams around.  If you go onto usawaterpolo.com you can look up a club and the contact information in your area. Hope this helps.

  2. h***s yes

    i played as a freshman

    best sport

its intense but gets you in great shape

just need to be a decent swimmer and tough

  3. not sure about how to learn it or practivce.... but I would say go for it, since you will be new at the school it would be a great way to make more friends.  Contact the new school and talk to the coach, about what you need to do.

  4. well, if you get to wear that s**y little speedo, i'd say "Go for it!"

As for the practicing, invite your friends over who play and have them teach you....you have the pool for it.

  5. my friend plays water polo and loves it.

its great for keeping your fitness up.

aswell as meeting new people, and in your case, this is a big deal.

new schools are never fun until you meet some people. so involve yourself in everything you can.

    AND HAVE FUN!

  6. y not?

just work on ur general fitness and ball handling

  7. omgosh yes join..i was on the swim team in my school and every so often we would play and it soo much fun..if u love the water and soccer or volleyball ull love that sport. ur very lucky that school has that for a sport i wish i did..

as for the preperation.. start out treading water for 5 minutes for about 3 days then do 10 for 3 days and so on..up to 30min or so.. and do some laps so u get faster and have more stamana. and that should prolly get u better prepared. good luck ul have fun trust me
