I'm 14 years old and entering my Freshman year and my coach told me that i should be a running back. The problem is, I dont want to :P

I'm 5'9" , 140-ish ibs., I can catch well and i can bench 150 ibs. max. Should I play WR or RB?

  1. if you want to play RB, you need to gain at least another 20 lbs.

  2. running back. Just do it.

  3. good size for a freshman back

but also good size for a reciever

i've played both wr and rb

    both were fun

    ha

    that doesn't help...

if you have a good qb play reciever

if not hey runningbacks catch passes outa the backfield too

  4. Play wide receiver.......if you can catch well enough.......nothing worse than dropped balls.....nobody really does wanna play running back...

  5. Part of your Coach's job is to evaluate talent.

If you learn how to run with the ball, AND protect the ball. It will help you be a better WR, if he ever plays you out there. After you catch the ball, what will you do, fall down? NO, you then become a RB. You protect the ball, evade tacklers, move the chains, or score!

The Coach has been doing this longer than you, listen up. You may learn something.

  6. I think I need to know how fast you are, if you run good routes, and if the quarterback you will be playing with will be any good.

I have a friend that plays receiver, but his quarterback kinda sucks, so the coaches don't throw the ball very much, and when they do, the passes still aren't great.

So, I can't really answer your question, but those are some things to think about.

  7. Ok for one it doesn't matter what you want its what coach says. next u should be a running back because you will also be able to run routes at that position. Finally, your 5'9" now and your gonna get taller so just play and if the coach is smart he would move you to wide out because height is good at that position (Duh)
