Hi. I am a relatively low stakes player($20 sit and go games) and I want to play in the sunday million dollar tournament at poker stars to try my luck. My question is should I enter a $11 satelittle or just pay the full $215? If I should pay the satelittle how much should I invest if I lose untill I just go ahead and pay the $215 for the tournament (I want to play no matter what). Thanks for reading, any advise would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Playing in satellites is almost always to best way to do it. If you're making money at the $20 SNGs, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to win a $11 SNG in 19 or less tries most of the time.

As far as how many satellites to try before buying in, I'd say that's up to you. If you fully intend on buying in even if you can't win a satellite, I'd play less than 6. If you can sit out if you don't make it, then it really doesn't matter. Just continue to play them until you feel you know whether or not you can come out ahead (i.e., win more than 1 in 19 tries).

FYI: Check your FPP count. You can buy into some of the satellites for that tournament with your FPP points. Losing these is a lot less painful than losing cash IMO.

  2. It depends on how big your bankroll is.  For multi table tournaments (MTTs) risk no more than 2.5% of your bankroll.  For satellites, risk even less.  So if your bankroll is big enough, I'd say go for it.  Hope this helps.
