Question:

Should I play baseball.?

I never really ever played baseball before so I am hesitant to try out not to embarrass myself. I have good strength, I am tall, and I have long arms. I am a baseball fanatic, knowing all the rules, even some of the technical rules. So, should I try out even if I really never played baseball before but have a passion for it.

  1. I had the same situation when I was 11, and I started playing, now 2 years later, I am the ace pitcher of my team and possibly the best in my small league.  Def. try it.  You will not regret it.

  2. Nope.

  3. Maybe you do have shot. But don't forget that theres alot of people who wants to play for high school and they probably have been playing baseball for years. There's less chances that you might not make it.

  4. Give it a shot, you will never know unless you try!

    Good luck

  5. yeah its like the funnest sport ever and if you poractice sure you could be great

  6. sure y not?

  7. Well you should practice first, but hey give it a shot!

  8. Well, I'm 16 also and it's my first year of ever trying to play on a baseball team. Our conditioning started last week and I was nervous as I have never played sports on a real team before. I thought everyone was going to make fun of me, and no one did. I had been worrying about this forever man. It was such a relief when I finally stepped in and conditioned with the team. I'm sure a lot of pressure will be relieved for you once you go. The coach was my gym teacher last season, and knows I am not good at push-ups. If anyone gives you problems, just stand up to them, you don't have to take that, and if they were to say, your not going to make it, just say what makes you an authoritive figure and your not coach. Teach them a lesson with your skills. The coach was very encouraging to me and so were the guys. Just practice throwing, and get in shape. Go to a batting cage if your city has one, and maybe get a few friends or someone to find a vacant ballpark in town to practice on. My Dad and I go to this old run down field in town to practice. Also, I am a life long fan like you, I know how to play the game therefore I feel I atleast have that to my advantage. If your passion is strong enough, use that and do your best and with a strong passion you will do so anyways. If your strong and tall, that will be good, but you don't have to be tall to play baseball as long as you can play the game. Most of all, a coach wants a player who is coachable and has a good work ethic. That is what coach told us guys today and he said he was proud of our work ethic. As long as you can play your way on, it doesn't matter what grade, there our several new guys on the team like myself who aren't freshman and this is our first year trying out for the baseball team. Even another boy like me who has never played organized team baseball. Although I did play one year of softball for my church's team when they joined a city league, so I know somewhat of how a team is supposed to be. There may be alot who have played and tryout but atleast you see who they are and what you have to do to beat them. Watch them, and see if you can learn something from them. I always debated whether to play or not and I told myself, you know you won't make it unless you try. You automatically don't make the team if you don't give it a shot. If you don't make it, ask the coach what you need to improve on, and you should probablyask coach that anyways if your team has conditioning and practices before tryouts so you can work on that and build on your weaknesses. Good Luck an I hope you make it. I hope I make it too!

  9. How old are you?

  10. noone became good their first try. Just practice batting and throwing and sooner or later you will be as good as anyone else.

  11. Depending on the competition and being that you have never played it might be a waste of your time to bother trying out.
