I have played the violin for 6 years and love it!!! I told my dad its haram and I changed my course to Philosophy instead of Symphonic Orchestra. My mom wouldn't change it and I told her why I needed to. I want to do things that aren't HARAM, but My mom is JUST NOT ACCEPTING. What to do?

* I explained that Music can lead people into other passions and get them off track with God.

* My mom think this explanation isn't good enough!!

* I quote the Bible about my hijab and how women should cover their heads just like the Qur'an says, but my mother HATES IT!!

* She wouldn't go into a restaraunt today with me because i had on my HIJAB!!

  1. i think u should still play. if u can play the violin, its great! as long as u  pray and stuff i think its ok, personally. i wish i could play an instrument. i dance though [thats haram, but alot of things i do are]. music being haram is very controversial, so i suggest reading the quran and deciphering what it says about music yourself

  2. First of all, music is NOT haram.

ESPECIALLY if it is for a kind of cause such as a performance.

And remember this: "Haram" does not mean "sin."

So even if u do something haram, chances are Allah will forgive u.

And while you're at it, put a drug pill in your mom's drink; may Allah guide that terrible freak; no offense if u think differently.

  3. Musical ability is a gift from God.  No one can listen to "The Violin Player" and say that such beauty came from anywhere but God.

God does not want you to be a robot who parrots back what he supposedly told to some arab 1400 years ago.  He wants you alive, and passionate and DIFFERENT!  We are not sheep, we're humans, as God intended us to be!

I'm so sad that you have given up what I would give anything to be able to do just so you could follow some incoherent ancient arabian cult leader!

  4. I think you might find this answer of benefit...

love for all, hatred for none

  5. The violin thing is difficult.

Be patient about your mom.  Let your dad take you to the restaurant, he's the one that's more on your level, it sounds.

Philosophy's interesting, you will like it, but it is your choice if you are going to quit the violin or not.

Not all people consider it haram...if you follow the hadith it is.

  6. i have a violin and it isint haram btw songs with bad language r but listening to it alot could be bad !i realy admire what u r doin and i am hoping that you would stick to it GOOD LUCK

  7. If music was haram, then the world would be a quiet place. Some songs are haraam, but not music in general. Playing the violin isn't encouraging anything bad. You wouldn't be singing anything either.

As for the hijab thing, you need to tell your mom that you will wear the hijab whether she likes it or not. Also, if she was such a good Christian, she wouldn't HATE the Bible's quote on the hijab either.

It is your life, if you don't wanna play the violin, that is your choice. The restaurant thing was bull because she is your mom! Aren't Christians supposed to be loving and not hateful? Just saying.
