Should I play football in 9th grade?

I don't know half the plays that the others who do play know and I can't life half the weight they can. I feel like I could mess up a game or something like that because I make a mistake. I dunno. I played in 6th grade but then I quit. I have been working out a lot lately because of it. I use 10lb dumbbells and I lift them about 30 times and take a little break and do something else and do it again. During the break, I only rest my arms cause I then do 35 sit ups. I do this for about two hours. I only do it every other day. I know I can bench with lbs on each side, and that's not a lot! I can only do about 10 reps and then it gets really hard for me. I really think I should and a lot of other people do too but I dunno. Sooo....help?

  1. You're a 9th grader, freshman, sounds like you got an ok work out regime...Dude I coached worse freshman, I didn't know nothing when I was a freshman, don't worry about messing up, you're probably not going to get much playing time anyways, you join the team in 9th grade so you can learn for 10th grade and become a starter, then 11th and 12th you become a superstar.

Just go there an be open to learning, and who knows if you're a quick learner you'll get playing time and become a stud. Gotta have confidence, just go 100 percent.

  2. if your dedicated then go for it. if you've ever seen the movie Rudy then you'll know what i'm talking about.

  3. if you love football and or you see yourself playing alot in the future then of course you should. even if you dont see your self in the future but you like i, then play it!!

  4. I'm a sophomore, 6ft 4" 224, I can lift as much as the other guys on my team.Squats are harder, benching is harder, but yet I'm a starter and I've been offered to play varsity. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Just do your best, I played my whole freshmen year without knowing a play. Its mental, if you think you can then you can. Go out and play, by the way, don't quit because practice is hard, they are not supposed to be fun. Just think when you step on the field, do everything right and your team wins. Also, once summer is over and school starts, there is very little condition and a lot more technique work. So just go for it man, play!
