Should I purchase an xbox 360 if.....?

Question

I have a PS2 and i absolutely hate the graphics (they suck). I am wondering if you think i should buy a 360 refurbished for $200..I guess the real question is how good is the 360??

Yes, the 360 is incredibly fun and the newer ones have a Falcon Chip which prevents overheating.

me and my brother bought a brand new xbox 360 last year and after 8 months we started having trouble with it and then it stopped working. and also a friend of my brother's also had trouble with his xbox 360 but he was able to get his fixed. but we havent been able to get ours fixed. so we had bad luck with it. so it's your choice. but if you decide to get one i hope you have good luck with it.

I would not buy a refurbished 360.

Earlier models of the 360 - most likely including the one you're looking at buying - had a manufacturing issue that caused what is commonly known as the 'Red Ring of Death' (RRoD).

In response, Microsoft has updated their hardware as well as extending the warranty on all 360s to 3 years.

However, buying a refurbished unit may not be recognized as being under warranty by Microsoft - and most stores aren't going to give you the same coverage.

Furthermore, Microsoft's repair department has had a really, Really, REALLY bad track record with regards to repairing 360s.  It is not unheard of for customers to get their 360 back from Microsoft's repair department only to have it break on them weeks, sometimes even days later.  Heck, some people reported getting their 360 back in a non-working state - meaning Microsoft shipped them a dead 360!

For this reason alone, I wouldn't trust a "Microsoft certified refurbished 360" any further than I could throw one of their tech support operators over in India.

Trust me, you don't want that hassle.

The 20GB 360 Pro is $299 NEW while supplies last.  Find one of those and be sure to keep your receipt...just in case.
