Should I put a few coats of clear coat on my rims?

I painted my rims today (black) they look really good but I was talking to the guy at autozone and he said not use clearcoat because it will get hot from the brakes and get really sticky and dirt and dust will stick to the rims. But I think if i put a few coats of clear coat on the rims it will be ok. what should I do? thanks.

also dont say I should of powder coat them, I don't have the money and spray painting them looks fine and yes I know I will prolly have to do it again.

  1. we clear coat big truck rims, this helps keep them from getting gummy road deposit in them it seems to wash off easier and they keep thier shine longer,,,a can of clear is only a few bucks and its easy to put on

  2. Let the clear coat DRY realy good at laest 24 hrs or so before you put them on the car.

Make shure the the rims are not tackey or stickey to the touch

in any way you want them to be compleatly dry before mounting them on your car putting them under a lamp for 2 to 3 hours is another way to dry them. good luck & watch out for runs.
