Question:

Should I put tiles on window sill?

I want to remove the paint off the window sills, because the mold keeps coming back and the paint is cracked and looks gross. And, then I want to put little tiles on the sill. Does anyone know how can I replace the paint with tiles? where can I buy them? Do they have the exact size? what should I use to glue the tiles? Am I going to have less mold? How should I scrape the paint? Do you have a better idea than the tiles? Thank you in advance for your help.

  1. as long as your window is not directly in your shower or above your tub you can scrape the paint and use a product called Kilz as the primer. you can buy it in any home improvement center as either a spray paint or in cans. basically it kills any organic growth and seals the wood to prevent it from reoccurring. I dont recommend you tile it afterwards unless you can cover the wood sill or replace it in a cement backer board. Some brands are called hardi-backer board or Durarock. You could get away with putting glass tiles on it (if you must) but if your problem is due to moisture, it isnt going to help you any in the future. If there is no moisture or you have stopped the source of moisture, you will be all right to glue down some tile, i recommend the mastic which is made for tile, appropriately called, tile mastic.
