Well I'm thinking about moving to New Zealand (Auckland or Wellington) when I have finished university. I live in South Africa and there is a lot of crime and stuff. If there is any one who lives in

N.Z. please tell me if it is truly a great place?

  1. Its peacful there. The nicest people are there!

  2. it depends what you looking for . if you are into outdours / fishing , hiking , its great ! clean rivers ; clean air .cost of living is on way up and lots of people can feel it ! this is why at least 1000 people leaving nz for australia every week . if they love it here so much ; why they are not staying ? of course another 1000 new imigrants is coming . big % of them after while find the same .i am from europe ; been here 11 years ; seen it all and on my way too... i am a cabie meeting people from walks of live so i can tell you stories ! and its getting dodgier in cities at night as well .if u come here for holiday , you will like it like other tourist have . this country is too new - no history, no soul . and i miss that !

  3. I recommend Wellington (I was born there).

Buy some winter clothes though! It'll be a lot colder than South Africa and is quite an expensive place to live.

    Auckland is bigger and warmer.

Wellington is windy but has a funky feel to the place

  4. Yes NZ is a good place to live in, I have been here all my life 67 years I have never been a victim of any crime so forget all the media hype. Goodness, you guys in SA have a lot more of that than us. Anyway, why think only of Auckland & Wellington, we have many towns/cities/villages that are better than those two cities. If you like wine come to Marlborough, fishing is good anywhere, both sea & rivers/lakes. Stacks of tramping tracks, lovely scenery and weather everywhere. That's why NZ is called Gods Own!! Come & join us!!

  5. its great there!!

  6. I was born in New Zealand and now live in Australia. I go back frequently for holidays and to visit family.

New Zealand is a great country. It has fantastic scenery, people and food!

I have never been to South Africa but I'd imagine that New Zealand is much safer. However, that doesn't got to say it doesn't have a lot of crime!

The past week has been a shocker in NZ. 3 murders have taken place in the country all in the same area of Auckland (south Auckland). There have been lots of stabbings and attacks in Auckland's CBD and quite a few violent home invasions. If other people don't believe me, just go to the New Zealand herald and look under crime.

That being said, New Zealand is a lovely place. Just don't let your guard down completely.

I would recommend Wellington for sure! It has less crime than Auckland and isn't so humid! It's also got much less traffic and it isn't so spread out.

Auckland is good if you like city life and if you are looking for a large range of jobs.

Thanks for the question and good luck with the move :)

  7. firstly i have to say I'm not actually from NZ but if i were you i would go for it! its such a beautiful country (i have a friend out there and i have seen the best pics) I'm going out there for placement when I'm in uni but seriously if you want to go just go don't let anyone stop you. The culture is so amazing! if my friend is anything to go by the people are great to! just go for it!
