Should I quit high school football?

OK im about to go into my sophmore year playing football.

I played as freshman on the Freshman football team and I played receiver.

I did not start, i was a 2nd string receiver. I did start a few games do to the starter not being able to play.

But this year Im a 3rd string receiver on JV. My coach (who is the head coach, Athletic Director, receivers coach) doesnt really like me that much. He b*****s at me for ever thing i do wrong. Its almost funny. He will be like "hey go get me that ball over there (its across the entire field) on the hop, on the hop".

He critisizes every little thing i do. IF the quarterback throws me a terrible pass and i dive and dont catch it hes like "come on catch the ball". He critisizes my routes saying i dont run them very good. Pretty much if something is not perfect, he has to say something.

We have had 20 practices (2 adays are over now that school is about to start) and he has given me 2 compliments/non-negative things.

And they are "good spot". "that a-boi, good catch". thats all he has said that hasnt been negative in 20 practices.

Our practices including meeetings last almost 4 hours. so instead of getting my *** bitched out i could be chilling at home.

I have a feeling i wont play much this year, if any at all. And it doesnt help that basically the head coach/AD/Receiver coach doesnt really like me.

I like playing and i want to keep playing. But I have to wonder if its worth it?

Do yall think its worth all this **** to stand on the sidelines. My motto has been "If I dont start, it doesnt matter". Because it is true if you dont start its not fun. h**l people that start even say its no fun just because of all the work you put in for a 2 month season

Should i quit or just stick with it. If all my friends didnt play i definately would quit

???

  1. stick with it,   you'll be more likely to make the senior team and if you do the universities will recognize it and you might even get a scholar ship if your really good.

  2. i played football until my junior year, then i said s***w it.  I stopped basically for the same reason you did.  If you don't enjoy it, then i wouldn't mess with it.  Say if you got paralyzed playin, well in a few years you will be mad at yourself for even doing it. So if you like it then keep up with what you are doing, but if you don't like it then i would just say s***w it.

  3. Bust a T.O

  4. dude im not tryin to get u to feel sorry for me just helpin you but dude i was like all county not like the best in the world but i was good and i got in a car accident and couldnt walk let alone  play my Sr year and spent the whole year in a wheelchair and i would do anything to have that **** back man trust me dude football is super fun life just sucks some times cause there are jerks

man do not quit dude trust me i had friends quit and i could tell they didnt feel right after they did it, and dude your coach might actually like and wants you to get better cuz if he didnt even care he would just ignore you..... and dude if you quit you wont be proving anything to your coach if he doesnt like you then you will be lettin him win man just stick with it and talk to one of your other coaches about it, i used to talk to my coaches outside of practice about stuff like what i need to do to get better and it helped me build a better relationship with them and they respected me alot more cause they knew i wasnt affraid to approach them, but you shouldnt be playin jsut cause your friends you should be playin for you and if you quit your not hurtin the coach you dont like or anything man trust me life just sucks sometimes and if the guy really dont like you he was probably just a loser in HS and gets to take it out on kids now so just stick it out for sure man

trust me dude i would not have wrote that much stuff to someone i didnt even know if i didnt really feel you should stick it out you will be way way happier in the end i am 24 and still look back on those times as some of the funnest i ever had and still hang out with some of the ppl i used to play with and talk about certin games and stuff we had

  5. Hit your coach with a giant block of old moldy cheese..and then say YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!  WHHHATTTTT NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!?!!!!!!!

  6. Dude u are in the same situation i was in. All i have to say is if you dont want to play then dont play. You should not do something you dont want to do. Or u can just ride this season out and see what happens. you never know, you could end up starting by the end of the season.

  7. Keep with it.. Work on everything your coach yells at you about and once you fix all your "flaws" you will be better then anyone else on the team. Your coach will have to start you next year and then the joke is on him.

  8. keep playing I've had coaches like that it sucks but you just have to keep going you wont be on jv forever and there's only 4 years of high school.

  9. Just a couple of questions. Can you look at yourself in the mirror and say that I have done my best? Do you love the sport? If you answer yes to these questions, don't let anyone keep you from what you want to do. There is more here at stake than just playing, quiting is easy, be the better man.

  10. stick with it but listen and be cofident

  11. Don't quit. You only have four years of high school and after that it is not likely that you will get to play on a real team again. Suck it up and just try to enjoy the game. You only go through high school once so try to make the most of it don't let the coach ruin it for you. 3rd string JV is not bad you will still get to play and seeing as you are a sophomore you have alot of time to move up. I would say you have a chance of playing in varsity your senior year but you will never know for sure if you quit. Stick with it, if you don't get to varsity or start so what at least you don't have to look back the rest of your life and wonder what could of been.
