Should I register for more than one bottle variety?

I've heard good things about Platex Drop-ins and Avent. Should I register for both? Right now I have two gift sets on - a Platex gift set and an Avent gift set. I've read that babies won't always accept the bottle you want them to have.

Opinions.

I've head Dr. Browns are good but difficult to clean. Is this true?

  1. Nothing wrong with registering for more than variety.

I have avent glass bottles and dr. browns. Dr. Browns are hard to clean, but I have hubby do it.

the bottles may be for someone watching the little one while mommy is away or not able to bf where she is going.

  2. Personally I love AVENT... don't know why, but I do. And my son has an easier time grabbing this bottle as opposed to other ones. (he's 7 mos now and won't let you hold his bottle for him. LOL)

I forgot a bottle one time and bought a random cheap=o one and he wouldn't drink it... he played with it instead.

AVENT does contain BPA but the studies came back and it does not harm the baby...I was fed with plastic bottle, you probably were too & we're both fine.

The playtex ventaire ones are a little too complicated for me and have too many parts for one bottle in my opinion. And the playtex drop ins just became a hassle after a while making sure you always had drop ins, but the drop ins don't measure exactly with the markings on the bottle...

But just stick with getting a few of different types until you have your baby so you know what they want...

We tried ventaire, avent, playtex and born free.... AVENT was the winner.

  3. I wish I just had one type of bottle. It would be so much easier to put them back together once cleaned because all the parts would be interchangeable. I have Evenflo glass bottles, Dr. Brown's, and Born Free. My FAVE is Born Free. My daughter loves the big nipples, and I love that that they are BPA free.

  4. well i've always given both my babies playtex ventaire bottles they are very good at reducing air in the milk and not causing gas and are easy to clean you just have to take apart the bottom piece and clean to make sure there isnt a build up in the corners....but after i discoverd that my 3 month old doesnt not get gassy or colicky i just buy the cheaper parents choice or evenflo bottles and they work just fine

  5. Only a comment from years ago.  I tried playtex drop-ins and found 9 times out of 10 that I had to wash the holder, because it got sticky, wet, whatever.  I decided it was easier to just wash the bottle in the dishwasher.

  6. Why do you need bottles?  you've got what you need to feed your baby hanging off the front of your chest.  Use 'em.

  7. my boyfriend and i have desided to register wit playtex

its suppost to be the best we hear but idk i guess ill find out when the baby comes. but this is my first so i have no idea. but goodluck!

-much love erin jeremiah and baby

  8. deffidently register for more than one brand. I registered for three different kinds, and actually i found problems with all three. I finally fell in love with the parents choice brand from walmart. they're cheap, cute, and my baby never spit up with them. which is MORE than i can say with those stupid vent air ones.

  9. dr. browns are hard to clean, and i heard the part in the middle can get very very hot.

my neighbor whom ive been babysitting for for 4 and a  half years has used Playtex drop-Ins with both her kids,

I think its best to stick with one type of bottle so they can associate with it and be comfortable.

if you want, since u have both, dont register for any bottles and try both, and see which one you and your baby is most comfortable with and then just got buy them.

    good luck!!

EDIT:  the drops in are most sterile id say, because just the liner gets used and touched by milk or formula and u throw that out.  of course u wash the whole bottle, but i just feel the drop-ins are the most hygenic.

  10. Avent and dr. brown's both contain BPA, which *could* cause problems in the future for your little one.

I would check into BPA free bottles.

  11. The playtex ones are the ones the babies like from my experience. The nipple is just like Mom's almost, and is great if you are breastfeeding, the baby won't be as confused when dad has alone time with him and has to feed him. Oh and they have special bags to store breastmilk in so you never have to buy formula as long as you pump.
