I recently purchased a bonsai ficus. It is about 7 inches tall. Around to base there are many tiny clover looking things growing. Should I remove these? Or are they a good thing?

  1. Remove them if it's clover. Clover will draw nutrients and moisture from the soil. Some have a moss planted on the soil surface to help maintain moisture and that's okay. It's there for a purpose.  Bonsai are in small, shallow pots to help maintain the tiny growth of the plants. The larger foreign plants will only serve to kill off your bonsai.
