You know that clear almost invisible film that is on a new electronic device when you take it out of the box? Is there any benefit to leaving it on forever, or should I just remove it?

  1. Well personally I always remove it, just 'cause it annoys me and it's like it isn't properly un-wrapped, kinda. But it's probably better to leave it on, protects from dust and moisture and stuff, plus you can always take it off later.

  2. Nope. it protects the surface...

  3. yes, take it off. it is there to temporarily protect the plastic screen, but over a period of time, will damage the screen it was meant to protect.

  4. yeah it protects your screen from being scratched. don't take it off.

actually over time, part of it might come off by itself.

  5. Take it off.  Its only purpose is to prevent scratches to the screen during shipping.  It becomes degraded during use and only interferes with your viewing of the screen.  Leaving it on is about the same as those people who leave that long price sticker on the side window of their new car.

  6. Neither removing nor leaving it on will help or hurt in any way. The film, obviously, is just to prevent scratches. But it will eventually develop little curls in the corners, making it an annoyance. May as well take it off to begin with.

  7. if it keeps the screen from getting scratched for that much longer . . . i leave it
