  1. Today!!!!!! nothing is more important than brakes,

  2. when the pad get to about  1/16 of an inch thick is the general rule

  3. If they were installed with the wear indicators, when you start hearing the squeek while driving...thats usually meaning you're in need of a replacement soon, within 5000 miles.

You want to replace before you go metal on metal, meaning you have no pad left between the caliper pad/shoe and the rotor surface.

The pic you have is looking like they're needing service. Its a bit difficult to tell because of the angle just how much pad is left but given the distance of the caliper off the rotor and the condition of the rotor surface....I'd say now is a good time to replace as you may only have as little as couple mm (or less in some spots) to stop on.

Pads wear according to how you drive and the compounds they are made with....which means they can vary from pad to pad although OEM typically must meet a standard uniform spec. Some sets may last a year or 15k/miles, others, depending on the driver and the pad as well as front or rear and the brakes construction and parts..may last up to 50-60k/ miles. (ok, I'm also basing this last paragraph of response in part upon auto info)

  4. if in doubt, go ahead and change them up, nothing like having fresh brakes...

  5. i would replace them if ur going to be riding it much.  I work at Auto Zone and my dad is a machanic and i work with him so ...i'm not just saying something.  It would be a good idea to change them.

  6. Replace them when they squeak.

  7. I can't tell from your photo send a photo of the pads after you have removed them from the bike  ...pads are not that expensive  so it wouldn't hurt to replace them if you haven't done them before if you have when was the last time ?

  8. Keep em a llil longer, then change them

  9. I just replaced the set on my Buell and the difference was really dramatic. I went with a set of Lyndall Gold racing pads and they work way better than the stock ones did.

It looks like the bike was just raised up from the deck of the Titanic though. It could really use a good cleaning.

  10. Replace them when they get to less than 40% life left especially if you have the money for it because you may get low on finances when they REALLY need to be replaced.
