Please read that first.

I need to know if I should report this girl. I just got information from her co-worker that this girl told them today that she has her 4 month old forward facing in his car seat, that she refuses to hold him bcuz he's a crybaby, that her own mother calls her an unfit mother, and that she curses at him in his face. She told them that she feeds him every two hours bcuz he cries so she shuts him up with formula. I really don't want to deal with this girl anymore!! But at the same time I fear for this child. What should I do??? What can I do???

  1. IN RESPONSE TO GONZO87 APPARENTLY YOU ARE NOT A PARENT AND IF YOU ARE HEAVEN HELP YOUR CHILDREN. YES YOU SHOULD CALL ACS AND REPORT HER ACTIONS.

  2. Having been a Child Protection Social Worker, I can tell you that it's a good idea to report it, but it's unlikely that they will do anything based on this information alone.  But why I say this, is that often they will have a database and they will check if there is anything else of concern - for instance they can't or won't neccessarily do anything if the only concern is a child sitting in a forward facing carseat or swearing at a child BUT if they have that information and then the police reports a domestic incident at her house then it helps them to put together a better picture of what's going on, and every little bit of information is crucial.  Also, as terrible as it sounds if something serious does happen to this child, at least you know that you've done your part to keep him safe.

In terms of whether you should continue caring for him, you have to do an equation.  On the one hand, it is wonderful for this child to have someone stable in his life who is keeping an eye out for him, and it is also not too bad for you to be getting $100 a week.  However on the other hand it sound like the situation is causing a huge amount of disruption to your own family.  So you will know, when the damage that this situation is doing to your family starts to outweigh the  $100 a week and the service you're doing for this child.

Good luck, and good on you for being concerned.  Not enough people get involved when children are being abused and neglected, and this just keeps it going.

  3. You should contact child services in your local area!  Think about it for the sake of the child.  Good luck!

  4. Yeah, you should report her. The kid is obviously not in a stable environment.

  5. You can contact CYS in your area.  You do not have to state your name.

  6. I'd call CPS and tell them everything. See if what she is doing is enough to have them reprimand her or to take the kid away and give him to better people..

  7. Yes you can make an anonymous report to the child protective services. That is not fair for the baby. What if she were to get into a car accident or something? REPORT HER BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. If at anytime you need to question whether or not to report someone, just call and report them, especially when it involves a child.

  9. Call Child Protective Services.  I think you can make an annoymous report.

  10. call cps asap! this kid is in trouble

  11. Report her, then CPS can decide if she is a fit mother or not.
