Question:

Should I retake the SAT?

I took in once so far and got 1850. I looked up the middle 50% for SAT scores for UCLA and I'm at the lower end of the average scores. I took the ACT and got a 30 overall. I checked average ACT scores for UCLA and I'm at the upper end. (but not above average)

I'm planning to apply for UCLA. Should I retake the SAT/ACT in October?

  1. Retake it if you want, but don't get all hung up on it. The valedictorian of my daughter's graduating class got wait-listed to 4 different schools, and rejected by several others, and he busted his rear end for 4 years. You'll get in to whatever school you are supposed to get into. It's pure fate, karma, or whatever you want to call it. So, relax, enjoy the summer, and have some backup schools in mind!

  2. Yes retake it. The highest score is the only one that counts so you have nothing to lose.

  3. Retake the ACT; you did very well on that, but taking it again may improve your score, and anything above 30 is very good. Retake the ACT in September if it's offered in your state, and then, you can apply early decision (if UCLA has that). Good luck.
