Should I return my iphone 3g and ask for another one?

I got my iphone 3g on July 23rd, and lately the apps have been crashing (I have clicked on all my apps and none of them open). When I'm on the internet it takes me out of there. It freezes, it did a couple weeks ago, and now yesterday it froze again, it's still frozen.

On my receipt it says that my warranty is until Jul. 22, 2009.

Should I return it?

yes if the warranty didnt expire return it or exchange for a new one

First go to apple store and tell your problem. If they can solve the problem then just get corrected or else replace it but don't return it.

I think the answer is obvious, you should return it. Since the phone is crashing and locking up on you, either take it in for them to look at it or request that you get a replacement iPhone. Just make sure you save any pics or videos that you might have taken and don't want anyone else to see, then erase them. I'm sure they can back up your address book too if needed from wherever you bought it from.
