Should I return what I bought?

Question

I spent $175 on a camcorder. I just got a job and dont have much money. I bought it to record my dogs doing trips and to record my vacation next month. I bought it a week ago and it's still in the bag and box, unopened, on my desk because I feel so guilty for buying it. Should I return the item and save my money? Thanks!

Just keep it. Why should you be so bothered over such a small sum of money? You have dogs (plural) and go on vacations, so you're obviously not wallowing in poverty

If you have pets and plans for a vacation, then it would seem you can afford the camcorder.  Keep it.

Video recording is on your cell phones now which would be a two for one

return it and focus on purchasing it with saved money.  OK you will lose that instant gratification feeling but its better for your bank balance.  Buy it as a treat later when you have a little more to spare

no! if you really like it than keep it that was a good investment and you will earn the money again you shouldn't feel guilty

If you don't have to pay a restocking fee, bring it back.  It's the wrong time to be buying something you don't really need.

I have 3 dogs and did almost the exact same thing about 3 years ago. Like you, I felt a bit guilty afterward, especially when I realized that I'd really only be using it to record the animals. I quickly got over that reaction and now have many enjoyable clips of my guys playing, being cute, doing tricks, running, sleeping (yes, I'm a sap about my dogs), etc. and no longer regret it for a second!!!!

I have everything backed up on CD so I will always have  these irreplaceable memories, even when I no longer have the loves of my life (as they're all large dogs and while now they're 3, 4 and 12 yo, I know they won't be with me forever).

If you have a serious reason to return the good, you can try if they accept it.

As a general rule in life, be happy for what you bought, follow the flux, money come, money go.

If you don't have much money, why are you going on vacation?  Keep it!!
