  1. It depends what your plan allows and what investment choices your 401k has.  Our 401k has only 30 choices.  I have many more investment choices for my IRA and Roth IRA at a broker.  Although, too many choices can be confusing at first until you do some research..

  2. Depends on your company's 401K.  Off hand I'd say "No."  We've all seen the rug pulled out from under enough people to understand the value of diversity - particularly with long term savings.   If you are depending on your own savings for your future - I would put some into a mutual fund that specializes in alternative energy companies because that's the future.  Some into EU companies because the EU is becoming the world standard and some from your company 401K.

  3. Focus on the expenses and fees of the IRA versus the 401(k), and the investment options available.  If the 401(k) has low expenses and fees, rolling the IRA into it may be a good idea if you're satisfied with the investment options of the 401(k).  But if the IRA is less expensive, then don't roll it over into the 401(k) because you're likely to have more investment options with the IRA.

  4. It is perfectly legal to roll one tax-deferred IRA account into another. The only limitation for a personal IRA into a company 401K is the company's rules. You will have to ask your employer if they will allow it. It is their decision, as the law allows the transfer, as well as their decision to or not.

  5. No.  Keep your IRA.  You have greater freedom of investment choices with an IRA than you will with a 401(k).

  6. I don't believe you can. You can roll one 401K into another 401K. And you can roll over a 401K from a former employer into an IRA. But I do not believe it is possible to roll over an IRA into a 401K.
