Should I root for Dallas this year?

I was raised a Packers fan and love them very much. Reggie White was my favorite player, and now Charles Woodson is. Ive loved Woodson since his days in Oakland, and was unbelievably happy when the Packers signed him. Green Bay has so much history and my entire family, parents, brothers, aunts uncles, etc. root for Green Bay. I also think Ted Thompson is a genius, and if not given loads of c**p to deal with in the offseason will take the Packers to many Super Bowls.

But I am so disgusted with Brett Favre and what hes doing that he has ruined the '08 season that I have looked forward to for so long now.

Ive hated Dallas my whole life until last year. I dont know what changed , but I really started to like them and embraced them as Americas team. So should I make Dallas my favorite team and pull for them this year. this is not because they have a great team either, since I dont personally believe they will make the Super Bowl this year.

Also keep in mind that I live in Wisconsin and wont be able to watch most of the Cowboys games this year, and being a full time student I can't afford Sunday Ticket.

What do you think I should do?

(Also, Why does everything I love have to hurt me?)

  1. Do not be a band wagon fan, Both teams are great! Dallas will always do their best to give you a championship, and the way Green Bay is handling this Farve situtation i dont think they have the team, fans and the sports best intrest .

  2. Don't be a fair weathered fan. Everything you love has to hurt you because they don't love you back.

  3. If you're even asking this question, then you shouldn't, to me its really as easy as that.

But if you do choose to go to the dark side, just don't brag about it and annoy everyone.

  4. How Bout Dem Cowboys!!! Say this loud and proud if it feel good the come join us for an unbelievable season and for our 6th Super Bowl ring. We are AMERICA'S TEAM!

  5. why are you askin us?  that's your decision and you shouldnt care what other people think about who your favorite team is, like who you like its your life

  6. Stay a loyal Packer fan, or you're gonna get called a bandwagoner. If you're willing to be called a bandwagoner, go ahead and root for Dallas. It's up to you.

  7. do what you want but a true fan of a sport and a team wouldn't never stop loving that franchise because they're down and out.

  8. Oh, sorry I just threw up in my mouth!  Dallas?  You have got to be kidding!

  9. We don't need any disgruntled cheesheads. If you truly see the light that the Cowboys are far superior to all other teams, then come on over, otherwise stick with your Slackers.

  10. Because you cant stick with a team

  11.       Its ok to root for another team if you admire the group of guys that they have assembled.  I personally have always been a cowboys fan but i have enjoyed watching the Ravens defense of a couple of years ago.   So i say like the boyz and root them, but keep your heart in Green Bay.

  12. First  I commend you for taking a realistic and logical approach to your options on who to root for this year.

Now, my own background,  I am a lifelong Cowboys fan.  I am now 40 years of age and I have been a Cowboys fan since as far back as I can remember.  Growing up a military brat, I never had a "Home" team, but when I was in Jr. High, my pops retired and in his new civilian job, he and the family (us) were relocated to the Dallas area.

I had DIED and GONE TO HEAVEN!!!  This was in 1983...only to suffer through some of the darkest of years as a Cowboys fan in the mid to late 80's.

I then went off and joined the military and before you know it, in comes Jimmy Johnson, Jerry Jones and a NEW Era of Cowboys and Cowboy fans.  I never lost faith...I could share some wild stories of staying glued to the TV as those Cowboys of 87-90 just truly stunk up the place...

While I was stationed in Ft. Benning, GA...a friend of mine was a HUGE Packers fan...she bet me that the Packers would win a Superbowl before my Cowboys...I had the last laugh as the Cowboys went on to win 3 Superbowls before the Packers went on their own run of titles.

Today, I have a healthy respect for BOTH teams, but my allegiance has and always will stay with the Cowboys.  Quietly, I cheer for teams like the Packers, Titans, Browns, Bucs...but my heart will always be with the Cowboys.

So my advice to you...cheer for whoever you want, and yes, we Cowboy fans welcome you to the cheering section...but keep your loyalty to the Packers, through all thick and thin...when they do win and win big,  if you were there in the down times, you will be able to celebrate the Championships like no other Cheering fan.

The reward of loyalty is amazing and I would not trade it in, to simply win a title with someone else's favorite team.  Have fun with another team, that's okay...have a 2nd favorite if you will, but keeping your #1 team as #1 is priceless!!!

  13. Root for the boys!!! I think a super bowl ring is a year or two away yet, but once Tony Romo becomes more experienced, I am confident he will be the next Tom Brady, and we all know what kind of success he had (unfortunatly)

  14. Do what you feel is right. IF it means rooting for a team u hate do it. If it means keep rooting for the GB Packers the reason football is football than do that.

  15. pick an underdog team.  the cowboys have enough fanz.  try the charger's on for size

  16. Hey, come and sit with all of us Cowboys fans...we would welcome you to the club!

Its a love-hate with the Cowboys... either you love em or hate em!

  17. It's a free country, do what you want - but I don't think you'll respect yourslef in the morning.

  18. Why not. You'll be like most of the other Cowpies fans. Band wagoners.

  19. no lets be honest here the steelers are the greatest team of all time and thats the only team you should root for
