  2. Sarah,

The average length of a period is 5-7 days... so it is not so unusual for yours to be longer.  The fact that you haven't had a period for 3 months is a little concerning, but there is info that we don't know... such as

1  Your age and typical menstrual cycle before the three months...

2  Any use of oral contraceptives or contraceptive shots in the past...

3  Any other symptoms with this period that are not typical for you such as abdominal pain, swelling, nausea, pain with urination or defication...

Without this info, itis more challenging to give sound advice....  Assuming your are not in exceptional pain, I would suggest start taking a multivitamin with iron (to minimize possible anemia) and if you continue to bleed or have other concerning symptoms for a total of 10 days, then see a gynecologist or your family doctor.

If this period resolves soon, I would suggest monitoring yourmonthly cycle closely for the next 3-4 months (and writing down start, end, flow and pain level on a calendar).  That way you can accurately describe the cycle should you go to your doctor at that time.

Hope that helps.           Doc T-           Peace
