Question:

Should I sell my 1916d Mecury dime?

I just asked a question about how much it was worth, but now I am wondering if I should sell it. It's an AU55 rating. Is this something worth holding on to and one day it's worth a whole boat load or is selling it now the best way to go. Any advice from coin collectors

  1. You should probably keep it.

You may want to consider having it professionally graded though.

Make sure that you use a reputable grading company. You can do some research, but Professional Coin Grading Service - PCGS.com  and Numismatic Guaranty Corporation - NGCcoin.com are two of the most reputable.

Once graded, it will be put in a tamper evident holder that will assure any future buyer of it's actual condition.

In the future if you decide to sell it, a graded coin will bring a premium over a non-graded coin.

  2. Im not a coin collector but if it isnt that important to you, you should sell it to get some cash but if you are a collector, keep it.

  3. well, you could sell it, but you won't get enough for it.

In my grandmother's collection I found 10 of them.

  4. I gave you the value and now I will tell you to hold onto it. Mercury dimes a collected by a lot of people and as time passes the younger generation will notice that though a small coin it happens to be a true piece of art and is quite beautiful in grades of extra fine and above. I would hold onto it for the only place the value has to go is up.
