Question:

Should I send a private letter to a hospital I apply for volunteer?

I filled out the registration volunteer packet and turned it to the hospital, they said they will reply within a week and its already been a week and a few days and they havent reply. Im nervous that they rejected me for some sort, probably when I wrote about my interest/hobbies and the reason I want to work at the hospital.

My dad suggested to send them a letter regards about my grades/subjects taken and lil about myself. He said that might influence them to get me to volunteer and shows that I really do care for working at the hospital.

So in regard to the question i need an answer please

Thank you

  1. Personally, I would not send a "private letter" to a hospital. Instead, go there in person and inquire about the status of your registration. Ask who is in charge for volunteer services and request to speak to that person. This makes a much better impression than a "private letter". Should that person not be available, you may need to make an appointment. Also, by going to the hospital in person the individual whom you will be speaking to is then able to put a face to a name. So dress appropriately, give a firm (but not too firm) hand shake, and just be yourself. Good luck.

  2. I agree with the other poster. Forget the letter and just visit there. They may be a bit swamped and haven't been able to look through your application yet. Or if they do a background check that can take a bit.
